Speculation about MS Dhoni leaving the IPL is not new. Despite being 41 years old, the wicket-batter is still heavily involved in the Indian T20 tournament as a player, and for at least the last few years, every season is expected to be his last. On the other hand, Dhoni, who led CSK to four IPL titles in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021, continues to spread his charm with sensational shots and superb gloved play. Asked if his IPL team is ready to play without him, little-known Indian slugger and former CSK player Kedar Jadhav said it would be his last season.
Making an assumption, Jadhav cited Dhoni’s age as the reason. He added that the team is not ready to play without him.
“Neither CSK are ready (to play without MS Dhoni) nor the fans were ready when he announced the time of his international cricket career… I feel like this will be the last year for Dhoni in the IPL and for CSK because he is in a few months turns 42,” said Kedar Jadhav, IPL commentator and JioCinema expert.
Dhoni joined the CSK franchise for the inaugural IPL season in 2008. Since then, he has always been part of the team in the IPL, with the exception of two editions in 2016 and 2017, when the team was banned.
Dhoni, who dropped his rankings after the 2020 IPL, has had a good season so far. His batting average is 214.81 over four matches in the current edition.
