Venkatesh Iyer had a great bat at the recently concluded IPL 2023. The Kolkata Knight Riders batter scored 404 attempts in 14 matches, including over a century and two half a century. He also became the first batter since Brandon McCallum to hit a ton for KKR in the IPL. Despite good performances, KKR failed to qualify for the playoffs and finished seventh in the points standings. With IPL 2023 already over, the 29-year-old striker is enjoying a break in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu.
On Instagram, Iyer shared a video of him playing cricket with the young students of Ved Patschal in Kanchipuram.
“The love for the game is incredible. Had a great time with all the young students of Veda Patshala in Kanchipuram,” the caption to the post reads.
“The kids must have had a moment where a dream came true,” a fan commented.
“Respect increases by 10000000000000 percent,” commented another fan.
Throughout his IPL career, Ayer played a total of 36 matches and scored 956 points. He broke a century and seven half-centuries. In addition, he played two ODIs and nine T20Is for India.
Earlier during the IPL, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh lavished praise on Ayer after he pitched his first century against the Indians of Mumbai.
“Venkatesh Iyer is a special player and he proved it with his first IPL century. Hitters like David Warner and K. L. Rahul should learn something from his innings,” he said.
“Ayer not only strengthened his team after dropping an early wicket, but also scored over 200 runs.”
