The Delhi Capitals went on a winless streak in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 as David Warner’s side were defeated by the Mumbai Indians by six wickets on Tuesday. With 5 runs needed for the final finish, MI looked pretty comfortable, but Andrić Nortier’s disciplined bowling put pressure on Cameron Green and Tim David. Since the final ball required 2 runs, David passed the ball straight to Warner in the deep middle, but his wayward throw to Abhishek Porel allowed the batters to complete the double and seal the win. Jason Berendorf and Piyush Chawla took three wickets followed by half a century of Rohit Sharma and 41 powerful Mumbai Indians Tilak Verma to lead to an all-out 6-wicket victory. MI recorded their first victory of the current season in an exciting match that ended before the last ball.

Rohit scored the most points for MI with 65 out of 45 while Tilak played 41 breaks in 29 balls. In DC, Mukesh Kumar scored two and Mustafizur Rahman scalped one wicket.

Chasing a total of 173, Rohit Sharma began chasing the Mumbai Indians’ run with an aggressive approach as he hit Mukesh Kumar with two fours and one six for 14 runs in the first over.

Ishan Kishan then followed the captain’s lead and scored Mustafizur Rahman three straight fours in the second over. The duo raised their partner position with 50 runs in the 5th over of the match. After 5 overs, MI had 59 runs without a loss.

However, a wicket run confusion cost rookie Keeshan his wickets after he played 31 runs. Kishan returned to the pavilion after being kicked out by Mukesh Kumar/Lalit Yadav.

Then Tilak Varma went into battle. In the 11th over of the game, Rohit took one and brought his half century made in 29 balls. The pair of batsmen Tilak and Rohit were determined in their approach and kept the Delhi bowlers hard at work, having fun with the excellent batting conditions on offer.

The Mumbai batters turned the shot brilliantly, keeping the Delhi bowlers calm as they hit the offered free balls. Tilak opened his hands and smoked one four and two sixes in a row in the 16th over.

Mustafizur Rahman gave his team a big break when he dismissed well-tuned batsman Rohit for 65 runs in the 17th over of the game.

It took 26 runs in the last 18 MI balls. With Rohit gone, Cameron Green and Tim David took charge and led their team home to a six-wicket victory over the Delhi Capitals in the latest thriller.

Previously, skipper David Warner’s fifty and Aksar Patel’s 54-run blitz helped Delhi Capitals (DC) set a respected target as Mumbai Indians (MI) bowlers pool DC for 172 runs.
