MS Dhoni applauds as Ravindra Jadeha scalps Sanju Samson© BCCI/IPL
In a tight encounter in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), the Chennai Super Kings capped the Rajasthan Royals to 175/8 in 20 overs despite half a century off Jos Battler. RR under Sanju Samson initially looked like a cruiser at one stage as they reached 86/1 in eight overs and looked set for a big score. Enter Ravindra Jadeha. In just his second over, Jadeja scalped Devdatta Padikkal (38) on the third ball of the ninth over. To further push back RR, Jadeja served cleanly to RR captain Sanju Samson, ducking on ball five. He would have taken another wicket in this over if Moin Ali hadn’t dropped Ravichandran Ashwin on the last ball of the over.
The ball that hit Samson drifted, adjusted and knocked down the stump. With the wicket, Jadeja became the first Indian player to take 200 wickets and score 2,000 runs in the IPL.
