Rajasthan Royals captain Sangju Samson was fined 12 lakh for slow overbet during Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Chennai Super Kings. Speeding is once again a problem in the IPL, with many games stretching past the four-hour mark. “Because it was the team’s first violation of the season under the IPL Code of Conduct regarding minimum overbet, captain Sangju Samson was fined 12 lakhs,” the IPL fact sheet reads.
On Tuesday, Rajasthan took one last win against CSK and Sandeep Sharma scored a brilliant 20th shot to deprive MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja.
Chasing a goal of 176, Chennai Super Kings were limited to 172 of 6 as Sandeep Sharma scored two perfect passes to keep Mahendra Singh Dhoni (32 of 17 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (25 of 15 balls) under control. Ravichandran Ashwin was the top RR bowler with a 2/25 rating.
Previously, Jos Battler scored 52 of 36 goals and Rajasthan Royals scored 175 of 8 from the first kick.
Battler hit three sixes and four in his strike, adding 77 for a second wicket with Devdutt Padikkal (38 of 26 balls).
Ashwin (30 out of 22 goals) and Shimron Hetmayer (30 out of 18 goals) also made valuable contributions.
Ravindra Jadeja (2/21) had the best record for CSK, while rookie Akash Singh and young Tushar Deshpande also took two wickets.
It was Rajasthan’s third win in four games and CSKA suffered their second loss of the season.
