The PBKS have now lost consecutive matches, having started the tournament with two wins in the same number of matches.
On Friday, Shubman Gill starred in a six-wicket win for the defending IPL champion Gujarat Titans.
Gujarat, led by Hardik Pandya, was heading towards victory until English all-rounder Sam Curran sent off Gill for 67 in the final chase to give Punjab hope.
The Punjab, commanded by former India international Shikhar Dhawan, could only score 153–8 after opponents forced them to fight.
Curran, the most expensive player in tournament history with $2.23 million, tried to defend seven in the last over, but Rahul Tewatia hit the penultimate ball for four and won the game.
Before, before, none of the Punjab batters were able to turn their slow and clumsy starts into a bigger score as they faced a very disciplined bowling performance from Gujarat.
Shah Rukh Khan’s quick shot of 22 and the contributions of Karran (22) and Jitesh Sharma (25) took the Punjab under par.
