When M.S. Don is in a losing position in the final over of the match, it is the bowler who is under pressure, no matter what score on the board has to be defended. When Dhoni and Sandeep Sharma clashed during the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, the pacer came out on top. Despite getting two sixes in the over, Sandeep managed to help RR win with three runs. After the match, he opened a duel with CSK skipper Dhoni.
Sandeep hit some perfect yorkers in the final over, but Dhoni brought down the first yorker for 6. Even though his first yorker did so, Sandeep continued to believe in his strategy. An experienced zakat man said that if it were not for Dhoni, even the first six would not have been executed.
“I’ve worked with him on yorkers and it’s going well. I also think that the ball that was hit on six, the first one, was a difficult ball, but only because it was Mahi bhai he was able to hit it. So I feel like I did well, but obviously it’s always nice to be on the right side,” he said in a video released by IPL.
“The wicket was a little slow, the spinners played very well. Thank you for leaving wounds for the defense in the final over. So, I thought I’d start with a slow bouncer, but it didn’t work out well at all. It was not only wide, but also one bouncer per over, so I didn’t have too many options left, ”he added.

Sandeep went from wicket to wicket after Dhoni sent him off for two sixes. His yorker on the last ball gave him the desired result: the CSK skipper only managed to score one single.
“Next I went for the yorker, but he also went for the wide. But I still supported myself because I wanted to hit the big side of the ground. But when I went for two sixes in a row, I realized that I had to change the angle. For the last ball, I supported myself to hit the yorker, I throw it well into the net, ”said the pacer RR.
