The Indian cricket spectrum was divided over the selection of the wicket-keeper on the Indian team for the ICC World Testing Championship final against Australia. Both KS Bharat and Ishan Kishan have their strengths and weaknesses. While some want Bharat’s “pure keeper” to be approved, others want Ishan to come across as “looks like Rishab’s pants”. Harbhajan Singh, who as an expert shared his views on a number of cricket issues, retracted his statement in support of Ishan’s cause, having previously chosen Bharat as his choice.
In a video on his YouTube channel, Harbhajan explained why Kishan should give credit to Bharat, citing the Mumbai Indians batsman’s ability to counter the new ball.
“Why should Ishan Kishan be superior to Bharat?
“I think it will add more strength to the game as Ishan Kishan can handle the new ball much better than Bharat. He is also a rookie and is in good shape. but he can play as a rookie,” said Bhaji.
The former spinner from India also said that he did not have much confidence in Bharat’s game.
“Rishabh Pant is an explosive batter and Ishan also has the same qualities. Although Bharat is excellent at wickets, I don’t really trust Bharat the batsman,” Harbhajan said.
Earlier in a chat on Star Sports, Harbhajan preferred Bharat to Kishan as he has “more experience”.
“No, I don’t think so. K.S. Bharat is playing for India now. If it was Vriddhiman Saha, then I would say yes, play with him. He has more experience and he is a better goalkeeper. If K. L. Rahul was fit, I would also prefer KS Bharat to him,” said Harbhajan.
