The Gujarat Titans bounced back from a devastating last-ball loss to the Kolkata Knight Riders for another thrilling victory over the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). It was the all-rounder Rahul Tewatia who had the presence of mind to send the ball to the boundary of the penalty steps when the team needed 4 attempts to win with 2 balls. At the press conference, Tewatia was asked about the previous game against the Knights Rider, especially how the team dealt with pacer Yash Dayal, who missed 5 sixes in the final over.
Tewatia, in a press chat, explained that Dayal remains an important bowler for the team this year, as he did last year. After being pulled apart by Rinku Singh, who hit 5 sixes in the 20th over to win the match for KKR, Dayal was understandably disappointed. But the conversation in the dressing room was about moving away from what happened in one match and focusing on the big picture.
“He was one of our main bowlers. Last season we became champions, and he played a huge role in this. Franchise Punjab, at a press conference on Thursday.
“One match cannot change the fact that he did for us. I don’t think anyone on the team showed any sympathy for him,” he explained.
Although Dayal did not feature in Gujarat’s XI game against the Punjab Kings, Tewatiya advised him to keep his head up and keep working hard.
“I told him: “One match failed. If you want to lose, only you can hit the bottom, otherwise nobody in GT will ever make you feel bad about it. Keep practicing and do what doesn’t work. day and wait for your chance. This is the worst, you can’t go any lower than that,” he said.
