With a penchant for big points, Shubman Gill could be the next big player in Indian cricket, says Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja. Gill, who has already scored at least a century in every format, showed his class en route to a sublime 67-of-49 in the Gujarat Titans’ six-wicket win over the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League on Thursday. After seeing him lose to PBKS, Raja suggested that Gill could be a likely successor to Virat Kohli.
“He (Gill) has so much potential, he has so much time. He looks so naturally beautiful when he plays. It doesn’t matter if he scores offside, from the side, a hook or a pull, it’s so beautiful and neat. Many predict that he could be the next best hitter after Virat Kohli,” Raja said on his YouTube channel.
Raja also suggested that Gill has Rohit Sharma’s touch, class and elegance, adding that for the youth, “the sky is the limit”.
“He has the touch, the class and the elegance of Rohit Sharma. And his temperament is quite strong. From tests, ODIs and T20Is, he tormented bowlers. When you see it, it seems that time has stopped. young age, he already has records. The sky is the limit for him,” he added.
So far, Gill has already scored two hundred in Tests, four in ODIs and one in T20I.
