Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) scored a hat-trick of wins against SunRisers Hyderabad in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) match at Eden Gardens. After suffering a loss in their first game of the season, KKR found two surprise heroes in two matches to launch their campaign. First, it was Shardul Thakur’s batting storm that caught star club Royal Challengers Bangalore by surprise as a fast 68-ball 29 bowler led KKR to their first win of the season, a dominant 81-run win. The low-profile Rinku then became the highlight of the season after pulling off the greatest heist in T20 history, scoring 31 runs in the last over to win the match.
Here’s what we think could be a KKR XI vs SRH game:
KKR tried out different opening combinations in three matches and it is likely that they will be changed again against SRH. England newcomer Jason Roy and Bangladeshi striker Lytton Das could be sent straight to the starting line-up.
Most likely, they will replace Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Andre Russell. Gurbaz looks promising so far, but he can be sacrificed to make way for an experienced player. Russell, on the other hand, had a tough time last season and hasn’t hit the ground running yet.
Meanwhile, Narayan Jagadisan may wear gloves to protect the wicket. At the middle line, Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana will be joined by the explosive Rinku Singh. A win for KKR, currently in third place, could take them to the top of the table.
Sunil Narine and Shardul Thakur will add depth to KKR’s game, while Umesh Yadav and Locky Ferguson will spearhead the pace. Varun Chakravarty will be the sole specialist spinner for the two-time champions.
