Rinku Singh played a knockout for the ages to save the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) blush in the 2023 IPL game against the Gujarat Titans. As KKR needed 29 runs to the final, Rinku smashed GT pacer Yash Dayal into five sixes at the trot to give KKR a memorable win. Former Ahead of KKR’s game against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday, Indian rookie Virender Sehwag has now compared Rinka to the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and M.S. Dhoni.
Sehwag explained that when Tendulkar and Dhoni hit the ball, the Indian team always put their hopes on the two legends. Likewise, with Rinku on the side, KKR also has someone they can rely on.
“There is a belief in the KKR team that Rinku Singh is still there. When MS Dhoni started playing games, there was a belief that Dhoni was still out there. then no. Now the same with KKR and Rinku Singh. They used to have Andre Russell for them,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.
On Friday, England slugger Harry Brooke smashed his first IPL century to secure a 23-run victory for SRH.
Brook hit 12 fours and three sixes in a 55-ball 100 to take Hyderabad to 228/4 after Kolkata captain Nitish Rana won the toss and decided to take the field first.
In response, captain Nitish Rana scored 75 balls from just 41, while Rinku scored 58 balls from 31 to lead the KKR attack.
However, SRH prevailed in 23 rounds.
Man of the Match Brook described it as a “special night” and said “this shot definitely stands above” my other best performances.
