Chennai Super Kings secured a record 5th Indian Premier League (IPL) title by defeating the Gujarat Titans in the league’s 16th edition final. With CSK and MI now tied for first place, their former players Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard pulled a hilarious prank as they waited for the IPL’s “most successful franchise” debate to end. Bravo even shared a video of the debate between him and Pollard on Instagram, asking fans to help him settle the dispute.
In the video, Pollard began to banter by asking Bravo what it was like to win 5 IPL titles. The former MI all-rounder boasted that he had been a 5-time champion for three years, and the former CSK star had just joined him in this league.
Bravo said that although Pollard won all his titles as a player, he experienced the feeling not only as a coach, but also as a player.
The debate also turned to the two players discussing their overall franchise cricket success, with Bravo saying that he only has 17 titles while Pollard only has 15.
“Speaking of franchise cricket, I have 17 trophies. How many do you have? Bravo asked. Pollard said no count was kept.
“Can someone help me resolve this dispute? @kieron.pollard55 thinks his team is the most successful IPL team @chennaiipl is the most successful IPL team. Also, @kieron.pollard55 wants to talk about @kieron.pollard55 trophies at #15 #sirchampion,” Bravo captioned the video.
In terms of IPL title counts, both CSK and MI top the charts with 5 trophies each. Consequently, it remains difficult to decide which of these two parties is the “most successful IPL franchise” in history.
