Chennai Super Kings and New Zealand cricketer Devon Conway spoke about superstar MS Dhoni and how he was overwhelmed by the support the former Indian cricket team captain is receiving during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Dhoni enjoyed a huge amount of support from all venues during the recently concluded tournament, and he repaid the favor by leading his team to a record-breaking fifth title. In a recent chat, Conway spoke about his experience playing under Dhoni and the relationship the team and players share with the CSK captain.
“He (Dhoni) is very much loved in India, he is worshiped there,” Conway said on SENZ Mornings. “To see the following and the support they give him is incredible. Every away game we played was almost like a home game because all the fans came to support MS Dhoni.”
“It was a special world, different from the one we are used to. I don’t think he can do anything outside the hotel because of his fame. He is respected by the players,” Kiwi added.
Conway also talked about the locker room culture at CSK and head coach Stephen Fleming.
“The way he (Fleming) runs the show there promotes a good culture. He has a good relationship with MS as well as franchise owners. His support is very important and helpful to us both as a group and as individuals,” Conway explained when asked about his personal experience.
CSK defeated the Gujarat Titans by five wickets (DLS) to claim the 2023 IPL trophy.
