Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya was fined 12 lakhs for having a low stake during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match against the Punjab Kings. The IPL aims for matches to end at three hours and 20 minutes, but slow repricing is proving to be a problem as several games stretch past the four hour mark. “Because it was his team’s first violation of the season under the IPL Code of Conduct regarding overstated minimum offenses, Mr. Pandya was fined Rs 12 lakhs,” the IPL fact sheet said on Friday.
On Thursday, the defending champions Gujarat Titans pulled off a comfortable six-wicket victory over the Punjab Kings by 2/18 Mohit Sharma and 67 49 by Shubman Gill.
The win, the third for the Gujarat Titans of the season, helped them secure third place in the points standings while the Punjab Kings are sixth with four points in as many matches.
