After successful lower back surgery, India’s star Jasprit Bamra has begun rehab at the National Cricket Academy, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said on Saturday. After missing the T20 World Cup, Bumra was selected to compete in the home ODI series against Sri Lanka in January of this year. He has been out of the team since then and is also not part of the Mumbai Indians squad for the ongoing IPL 2023.
“Mr Jaspreet Bumra underwent surgery in New Zealand on his lower back which was successful and he remains pain free. The specialist advised the fast bowler to start rehab six weeks after the operation, and accordingly, Mr. Bumra began his rehab. leadership of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore since Friday,” the BCCI said in a statement.

The board also shared an update on slugger Shreyas Iyer’s road to recovery, stating that the 28-year-old will undergo lower back surgery next week and will only begin rehab two weeks after his rehab at the NCA.
“Mr. Shreyas Iyer will have surgery next week for a lower back problem. He will remain under the supervision of a surgeon for two weeks, and after that he will return to the NCA for rehabilitation, ”the statesmen added.
On the other hand, Ayer’s lower back injury forced him to miss the entire white ball series against New Zealand and the first Test against Australia. He returned to the team for the second Test in Delhi but left in the middle of the fourth and final match due to the same problem.
Although Ayer is already out of the WTC final, it will be interesting to see if Bumra reaches full fitness or not before the decisive match.
