Former Indian slugger Virender Sehwag criticized the Delhi Capitals players for their performance at IPL 2023. The David Warner-led team started their campaign this season with four straight losses. The Lucknow Super Giants defeated DC by 50 runs in their first game, while the Gujarat Titans beat them by 6 wickets in their second game. DC lost their third match to the Rajasthan Royals by 57 runs before the Mumbai Indians beat them by 6 wickets, marking their fifth trot loss.
“Honestly, the staff that is there has no value. It doesn’t matter how strong your team is, it’s the players who don’t work well there. You can have all the great minds you want in the dressing room, if your players don’t score or take wickets, what are they going to do?” Said Sehwag on Cricbuzz.
“I will never understand this. You have to choose players who can win matches and you don’t have to refer them every time. When you have such players, you can become champions. Delhi has such players, but they are not scoring runs and not taking wickets. You can strategize, after all, those who enter the ground must execute,” he added.
Batting DC was a real problem for the side. While Warner remains the silver lining in their underperforming lineup, the southpaw is also scoring with poor hitting frequency.
DC is currently hosting the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL Game 20 2023 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
