The Gujarat Titans took a 6 wicket victory over the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match on Thursday. Chasing a 154-run goal, it was Shubman Gill who laid the groundwork at the top, scoring 64 runs with 49 balls before David Miller and Rahul Tewatia ended the chase for their team. The winning streaks were packed with none other than Tewatia, a man who loves to win in exciting competitions against the Punjab.
It took 4 runs after the last 2 goals and Tewatia reached the border to earn two points for his team. At the end of the match, Gill called Tewatiya’s heroic actions against Punjab a “love story” after seeing this wagon pull off such chases against PBKS on several occasions.
“Wicket got a little complicated towards the end. It was more difficult to score a six with an old ball. This is a big playground. It was important to keep hitting the gaps, to run as fast as possible. I had to finish the match. Kings XI is a love story. In games of this type, there is definitely pressure on both teams. It’s about trying to minimize point balls,” Gill said at the launch ceremony.
“It was also difficult for them to score goals against the old ball. It was important to have a good power play. We have ticked this box. It was a small result.
Gujarat Titans’ first batter also praised returning seamstress Mohit Sharma, who last competed in the IPL in 2019.
“He looked good in the net too (Mohit). He has a good Yorker. He played great with the slower one, using borders. It was a great GT debut for him,” Gill concluded.
