It’s already fun to explore Skyrim, but these mods make it even better.
Skyrim’s re-release on platforms from the last generation does more than just make the game look better. Support for user-made mods is the most exciting change Bethesda has made to the game’s quality of life. This gives you a taste of how much fun PC players have with crazy mods that can change almost everything about Skyrim.
There are a lot of mods for Skyrim for PS4 that you can use even if you don’t have a gaming-grade PC or a new machine. Let’s look at the best ones, but if you can, please check them all out. You might find something unique that we missed!
Lore-Based Loading Screens
This mod by Chesko won’t change how you play. Instead, it adds fun facts about Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls to the times you have to wait for things to load, making those times a little more interesting.
The Elder Scrolls community members who took part in the project contributed the pieces of history. This is one way that mods can bring together fans of a work. You can stay in Skyrim’s world while things are being set up behind the scenes with over 160 of these waiting screens.
DLC Integration
There are a few official Skyrim upgrades you can get if you ever want to… well, make the world of the game bigger. All of them add something unique to the experience by changing parts of the game or even making completely new ones. But if you already have any of these additions and want more from them, you should check out the DLC Integration mod by Dillonn241.
Each addition adds something new to it. Hearthfire, for instance, gets a lot of food-related updates, such as recipes. Dawnguard and Dragonborn, on the other hand, mostly get changes from the loot they find and the gear and things they buy. Because it changes and adds things, this mod makes the upgrades feel a little more worth it.
Cutting Room Floor
Skyrim had a lot of content that didn’t make it into the final game, just like other Bethesda games. Still, you can find it in the game files. Arthmoor’s Cutting Room Floor brings back places, NPCs, and questlines that were cut.
Some mods add new custom content, but this one lets you see official material that you weren’t able to see before. There are now more towns to explore and new items to get that were locked away in the game’s files before. Try to find the other, smaller items that were taken out of the game as well.
Better Combat AI
It’s not fun to explore new places or meet new people if you can’t fight them. If you want more exciting action, Better Combat AI by joop will make your experience better. During battle, it makes the AI of NPCs smarter, including animals and other beings. Depending on what they do for a living, different types of NPCs will act in different ways.
When dangerous animals are in groups, they are more likely to attack you, but when they are alone, they are more likely to run away. People who work as NPCs and don’t usually fight will be worse at battle than people who do fight a lot. Everything is a lot more fun and interesting because the battle AI is so realistic.
Even Better Quest Objectives
There are quests in the game that aren’t always clear, like the one about the Stones of Barenziah. You don’t even get general places to look into in the game. Instead, it tells you to look around the whole open world for 24 jewels that could be anywhere. You name it—they could be in a box or buried in a prison.
The book Even Better Quest Objectives by Williamlmm gives you more detailed quest log questions that act as tips without telling you exactly where the target is. It’s the best mix for tasks that would otherwise be boring.
Rich Skyrim Merchants
Have you ever tried to save up for the best houses in the game? It’s the fastest way to get rid of all the loot you can carry. Sadly, traders in vanilla Skyrim only have a small amount of gold to trade. This could make the process of enrichment go very slowly.
Many NPCs who can sell to you will have two, five, or even ten times as much money after EddieTheEagle’s tweak, Rich Skyrim Merchants. If you sell them good things, you can make a lot of money. This mod is great because it works with a lot of different games. If you don’t have any other mods that change traders’ gold, you can put this one anywhere in your loader.
Cheat Mod
In games, “cheating” is not cool, but Cheat Mod by TheRealElianora doesn’t use bots to slow down networks. Instead, it lets you move things and make other things. If you’d rather do something other than making or are just anxious, this is the right solution.
The mod adds the “Warmaiden’s Forge” to Whiterun. It’s a chest that has 100,000 gold in different safes and 1,000 of every making material you need. Don’t worry if you’re thinking how you’re going to carry all that. The mod also adds a ring that lets you carry 500,000 more items.
Make sure you don’t add this if you have the Open Cities mod installed. It does not work!
Rain And Snow FX
The weather in the game doesn’t change much because of this mod by Chesko. Like always, it rains and snows, and most game days are cloudy. If your character does get caught in a storm or snow, though, their armor and clothes will get wet or frostbitten.
In vanilla Skyrim, there’s nothing that makes it look like your gear is open to the weather, so that’s a nice touch. When you get out of the pool, you’d be as dry as a desert. This mod fixes that, so it’s great if you want to make the experience more real.
Lively Graphics Overhaul
When we talk about mods for PlayStation 4, we can’t leave out the Lively Graphics Overhaul mod by ImperialAgent1992. The Sony graphics mod that got the most downloads only needed one version to work.
That’s because the change is pretty simple, which is why there is only one version. It makes the game less dark and gloomy and adds color to all the scenes you like. It might seem like a small thing, but it will make a big difference if you do it.
Surreal Lighting
On a PC, Skyrim can look amazing. The PS4, on the other hand, doesn’t have as good of graphics as high-end computers, but with the right mod, it can still look great. If you want to do that, Arindel’s Surreal Lighting will work.
It has the most impact on the contrast, brightness, and color, making surroundings that are bright and beautiful. When it’s sunny, it feels sunnier because there’s less fog, and the sky is clearer. Also, godrays work a little differently to make the outside look even better. If you put this in, your game will thank you.
Immersive Citizens – AI Overhaul
The AI is one of Skyrim’s biggest problems that makes it hard to get into the game. Everyone knows that you can steal everything from a store owner by putting a bucket on their head. This mod by Arnaud d’Orchymont changes the plans of people to make them feel more natural and better how they interact with the surroundings or possible threats.
The mod takes into account things like their level, job, and weapons, so they fight more like real people. Also, for each town site, the number of unique conversations with people is usually increased. Overall, this mod is great if you want to play Skyrim in a more realistic way.
When looking into possible mod issues with Immersive Citizens, be careful. It really is a great mod, but it doesn’t always work well with other mods.
Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch
Skyrim has been out for more than ten years, but it still has bugs. Even if bugs that break games have been loved for a long time, they can still be unpleasant. The last boss of patches is this mod.
This patch, called Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch, was made by The Unofficial Patch Project Team to work with most mods. It makes the game better without making big changes. It’s strange that people are still finding bugs in games months after they came out, but that’s why this patch is here.
Phenderix Magic Reloaded
Do you like to use magic? Do you feel like there aren’t enough spells or clothing for mage? Glad you asked! The Phenderix Magic Reloaded mod by Phenderix gives you everything you could want: new areas, tools, enemy types, and more than 400 spells. You should download this on PS4 for no reason. There are two parts to it.
You should know, though, that this mod doesn’t work with all magic-related mods. Before you download this big change, make sure you already have any of them.
Dolomite Weathers And Lighting Overhaul
It’s time for Skyrim’s Nordic setting to get a little less gloomy, and the fact that this mod has been downloaded so many times probably says it all. Megaloblast’s Dolomite Weathers and lights Overhaul mod changes the lights and hills in the game to make it feel more like a real mountain world.
There are a lot of weather-related features added without making the file too big. The game, which is based on the Dolomites in northern Italy, will feel like a breath of fresh air while you play it. The story and graphics will be amazing.
Magical College Of Winterhold
One of the best places in Basket Random is the College of Winterhold. It has a somber atmosphere that comes from its rich history and interesting details. But it doesn’t look as amazing as it could be for some reason. Download this mod by Sable17 if you want to change that and really feel like you’re in college. It’s one of the best PS4 games out there.
The insides of the houses are totally redone, and many new features are added. It’s hard to find a place with more depth, especially for characters who play magicians, but this mod does the job.
Immersive Movement
You should get the Immersive Movement mod by Zana Daniel if you think that Skyrim is getting too easy after the second or third time you play it. This mod changes how you move, making it take longer to turn and run backwards.
The weight of your tool will also change how fast you can move. A Two-Handed Heavy Axe and a Dagger are not going to be as quick as each other. But don’t worry—the changes this mod makes to moves also affect NPCs. Beasts that move quickly, werewolves, and vampires are also included.
Smilodon: Combat Of Skyrim
Skyrim gives you a huge number of weapons and armor to use in fight. It’s a shame that enemies can sometimes look easy, no matter what class you play—soldier, rogue archer, mage, or dual-wielding attacker. Although you could make the game harder, the AI is still dumb, so you could still die for no reason.
Every enemy in Smilodon: Combat of Skyrim by Enai Siaion becomes much more hostile, so much so that you will feel in danger when you fight. Barbarians try to hit you at the same time, so you have to plan your attacks. Overall, fights feel more powerful.
Obsidian Weather
Dr. Megaloblast and Arindel worked together to make this mod. It was made by the same people who made Dolomite Weathers and Surreal Lighting. Because they shared what they knew, they made one of the best weather mods for Skyrim.
If you use Obsidian Weather, you can add a “fog of war” that makes it impossible to find things far away. You can also choose from about 90 different types of weather. You really feel like you’re living in the dream world that Bethesda made when there is fog around.
Call Of Madness (Wabbajack Shout)
Anyone who likes The Elder Scrolls should get this Kingston3K mod because it lets you become the Daedric Prince of Madness with just a “WABBAJACK!” This is one of the best mods for Skyrim on PS4.
The Thu’um shout lets you unleash all of Sheogorath’s chaos as a Daedric god. Use it to send bad guys to Oblivion. It also comes with some cool extra gear and magic that use cheese to harm your enemy. What would Skyrim be without some silly things?
